About
The Pangea Trio arose from a shared desire to introduce audiences to 20th- and 21st-century music. The distinctive flavour of its output stems from its members’ choice to express their musical backgrounds through a repertoire that includes many premiere performances of new works, while simultaneously creating original interpretations of Classical and Romantic trio repertoire.
Léo Belthoise (violin), Sara Chordà (cello) and Bruno Belthoise (piano) are regularly invited to perform at the most prestigious festivals and concert cycles of Portugal such as the Centro Cultural de Belém (CCB) in Lisbon, the Casa da Música in Porto, Cistermúsica Festival in Alcobaça, the Porto PianoFest, the Festival Internacional de Música de Marvão (FIMM), International Music Festival in Leiria, Música em São Roque in Lisboa, Serões Musicais no Palácio da Pena in Sintra, and abroad : Clásicos en Verano in Madrid (Spain) the Festival de l’Été Mosan (Belgium), Festival d’Ile-de-France (France) among others. They regularly perform for the Portuguese national radio RTP – Antena 2.
Since its concert debut in 2008, the Trio Pangea has been exploring forgotten scores of the Portuguese music history as well as performing the well established Piano Trio repertoire. Its artistic approach has been supported by many cultural institutions such as the Gulbenkian Fundation, the Camoes Institute, the Portuguese Ministry of Culture, the National Radio RTP.
For the production of its recordings, the Trio Pangea is supported by the RTP-Antena 2, the
Fundação INATEL, AvA Musical Editions, the National Museum of Chiado, The Lisbon Superior
Conservatory of Music (ESML) and the Naxos Records label.
